Day 4 - Lauren Myrlie

Day 4 of the tour brought us sunny skies and a cool 50-degree day- a perfect day for us! We said goodbye to our wonderful host families and quickly hopped onto the bus to head to our next destination: Chicago. After about an hour and a half of driving the Croixaliers were very excited to explore this new city. We first went to the John Hancock Observatory (despite several of us being scared of heights… *cough* Pastor Sievert and Zach Polzin *cough* *cough*). It was really amazing to see the beautiful Chicago skyline from so high up- and we even had an impromptu Croixaliers performance of dancing and singing for the people as we waited in line.

For lunch we had reservations at Giordano's Chicago- Style Pizza, so we walked a couple of blocks to get there from the John Hancock Center. We split off into 4 tables (one being gluten free exclusive) and began feasting. Each table had a salad bowl and 3 deep dish pizzas. The boys challenged each other to see who could eat the most pizza, and Zach Arndt took the win with 4 whole slices of deep dish. Needless to say, we did not finish all of the food by a longshot and took the leftovers with us.

We walked a couple of miles to the Navy Pier and spent a little time there shopping and admiring the stunning ocean view. Pastor Sievert and Mr. M stayed outside with us, while Mrs. M and some of the girls went inside to shop at the little boutiques they have inside the building. We then speed-walked to the Millenium Park to get a picture with the infamous bean before we ran out of time. We ended up making it in time and joined the countless tourists in taking a selfie in the bean’s reflection. Then to our dismay, we had to say goodbye our Chicago adventures and start the trip to Davenport, Iowa. We ended up walking about 5 miles today, so many of the Croixaliers took naps on the bus or watched a movie. Sam and Adam however, choose to entertain themselves and others by explaining to us the plots of the Batman trilogy in great detail over the bus PA system (after about ½ hour they tired themselves out and wrapped it up).
